Prime Time

Up to this point we have filled holes in the living room walls and sanded all the wood work. You can revisit that here.

We have also started in on our bathroom. If you missed out, you can see it here.

Next on the list....Priming. Lots and lots of priming. We once again got all our supplies from Sherwin Williams. We purchased their tinted primer for the walls and white primer for the trim. After that it was all about rolling, brushing, slopping, and edging.

My trusty assistant

We started with the walls and once I got it all primed I just couldn't wait to see what the wall color looked like so I slapped a little of it on the walls as well.

Sherwin Williams Dovetail Grey

Now that I got that out of my system, it is back to priming.

Still have to prime the frame on the fireplace

Funny how small changes can make such a huge difference. Let's remember where we started.

Bathroom Facelift, Phase One

While I was waiting on things in the living room to dry, I decided I would tackle the first step in my bathroom face lift project. The wall color.

Bathroom Before

The wall color wasn't all that bad, but it needed some holes patched also and needed some freshening up. I chose all of my paint colors from Sherwin Williams Livable Luxe Collection and chose Distance for the bathroom walls with Snowbound for the trim.

After: With new wall color

I have big plans for the light fixture and the mirror

The cabinets will get some love too

Bye bye baby blue

The trim still needs a coat of Snowbound white

The grey tiles are in great shape and will match nicely, but the grout is dirty and grey. I have something in the works to brighten that grout and make everything look clean and fresh.

It's one small change but puts a big smile on my face. Can't wait to finish the rest!

Bless This House for the Walls are Holey

After removing the childrens border from the kids playroom and the living room, I made my biggest and most time consuming discovery. Holes. Lots and lots of holes from years of thrown toys, falling kids, and who knows what else. So, I jumped in and learned something new by filling over 25 holes myself.

I filled all the holes with joint compund, waited a day for it to dry, filled it again, one more day of waiting, and then for the super fun part....sanding.

I got on my mask, and pulled in my vaccum hose to suck up the dust and sanded my little heart out..lets make that big heart ;)

While the dust was flying we {my friend Brecklyn and I} decided to go ahead and sand everything that needed sanded. So, that meant all the woodwork, including the awesome red baseboards.

We are patched, sanded and ready for primimer. Check out the rest of the progress tomorrow.

Home SWEET Home

Hey Hey Blogger land! I have started an additional blog!! I will pause for a moment and let you all cheer and clap with excitement. Alright, alright already, that's enough. This new blog is all about the newest chapter in our lives...Our new house! Well, technically it is an old house and that is what has inspired me to create this new blog.

While we have been living in Florida for the past 4 years, Indiana is our true home SWEET home and with 6 months left until hubby graduates, we have already started the migration back to the Midwest and into our new abode. The kids and I will be here, husband/daddy less for a while but this leaves me PLENTY of time to update the old with super fun new!

Our new home was built in 1850 and is large, grand, and outdated. For the past 20 years it has been used as a daycare center with the upstairs fitted as an apartment. We have already been hard at work on a few projects, but here is a peak at a few of the rooms before!

Welcome to From Florida to Flora!!

The Living room before {minus the flower border i removed}

We will be doing this room first as it is the first room you see after the entry, when you walk into the house. We have plans for new wall color, painted trim, and an updated fireplace.

So there is your sneak peak! I will show you before's of the rest of the house later and also fill you in on the progress we have made so far!
