Pantry and Paint Project Reveal

Hello Bloggerland! I have been MIA for MONTHS now! Sorry about that. Our lives have been CRAZY this summer. Luke graduated from pharmacy school, we moved across the country, Luke now has a new job, and Isabelle starts kindergarten on Monday! I have not stopped on my projects, but had a hard time recording everything I did. I am going to do a quick update on what's been changing around here!

I believe I was in the kitchen when we were together last. The paint is done and I finished my pantry project! Here is a reminder or where we were and are how things are looking these days..

Before

The pantry had old liner in it and smelled like and old time log cabin..

I emptied it out, pulled out the paper, filled all the holes, primed, painted, and organized it...

 I had plenty of room for all our food, serving dishes, spices, and paper products {paper towels, trash bags, plastic cups, etc}

Remember these?

They all got a little face lift and found a home on my coffee bar...

I used my fave, spray paint, to turn the wooden circle orange and the Merry Christmas platter got a blast of sunny yellow before making its way under my coffee maker.

I still have a few more things in the works for the kitchen and I promise to update faster now that I have a little free time available. Stayed tuned for the next saga, where we tackle the living room!

Sneak Peek

We did it!! We took the plunge and picked a paint color! Thank you to everyone who put in their input. Sometimes my mind can go a million places and I need someone to reign me in :) These were the choices we were considering.

The majority thought Gateway Grey was the way to go...

We agreed that was also the best choice BUT could stand to be a little lighter. My mother in law and her bff Molly ran off to play at Sherwin Williams and came back with the winner. Im calling it greyn aka grey/green {you have to pronounce it with a hick like accent :grain:}

I have a few more things to take care of before the big reveal {remember those "floating" cabinets} so thanks again for your ideas and hope you check back.

Choices Choices

So the big day is finally here!!! The paint is going on the walls! Yaaaayyy, Happy dance {my kitchen has been torn apart for over a week now} The trim, doors, and moldings have all been painted and we are ready for the next step, with one exception....I CANT decide on a paint color. I would slap a little on and think, Yeah! That looks great!, then it would get dark out, or dry, and it would be all wrong. Ugh. So, I painted all 5 choices on the wall in patches along the black molding. I painted a strip of white next to each one so you can see the contrast it will have against all the white trim and put on 2 coats to insure their true colors. Whew! Now this is where you come in! Please, please let me know which you like best. We are using all HGTV Home colors by Sherwin Williams through the whole house and are trying to keep everything appealing to the masses for when we decide to sell. Are you ready? Concentrate. Here we go.

Color #1 {selected by my mother in law} Bittersweet Stem

Color #2 Gateway Grey

Color #3 Dovetail Grey {this is the color from our livingroom}

Color #4 Distance {the color from our bathroom} with a little white mixed in.

Color #5 Natural Choice { It is under the molding above the doorway}

Ok! Let's hear it!! Which one should be THE one?? Or should I just start all over? Suggestions of your own?

Living Room...Check

I am super excited to say that the livingroom is DONE {with the exception of a couple of touch ups}. After hole filling, priming, and 2 wrong paint colors, I finally have my Dovetail Grey Living room!

After being in the space a few days, I of course had to rearrange the furniture {thanks again to everyone who has donated furniture to us}. I also was not happy about looking at the white pin board material above the mantle. I have plans to find something to cover it, but until then I decided to paint it the same color as the wall...

Prime Time

Up to this point we have filled holes in the living room walls and sanded all the wood work. You can revisit that here.

We have also started in on our bathroom. If you missed out, you can see it here.

Next on the list....Priming. Lots and lots of priming. We once again got all our supplies from Sherwin Williams. We purchased their tinted primer for the walls and white primer for the trim. After that it was all about rolling, brushing, slopping, and edging.

My trusty assistant

We started with the walls and once I got it all primed I just couldn't wait to see what the wall color looked like so I slapped a little of it on the walls as well.

Now that I got that out of my system, it is back to priming.

Still have to prime the frame on the fireplace

Funny how small changes can make such a huge difference. Let's remember where we started.
